I am Gayathri Sugunan, currently in my 5th year of medical studies in TSMU. I came across options of pursuing my medical education in 2015 soon after my high school final exams. My name is Naren, and I belong to the class of 2022 of the USMD program. I heard of TSMU through my classmate and we both applied for the university with the help of Cyberrys Consultancy. The USMD program is a 6-year course and the first year is like a pre-med course. The medical subjects that are included in the first year are BAD (becoming a doctor), Genetics, Molecular biology, and Histology. Although the other subjects do not provide much medical knowledge, it does boost our general knowledge. The program has helped students by preparing them for the USMLE exam.
The exams that are conducted are very similar to the USMLE questions. We are also provided with materials (textbooks and videos) that help us in our preparation for such exams. I also had the opportunity to go to the US for a one-month internship program when I was in my first year. Although young, it was still fascinating to see how residents carry out their day-to-day activities in the hospital setting. They also tried to break down the complicated procedures/words into simpler words for me to better understand what was going on with the patient. The first year will be easy going for students, but once they enter the second-year things will become more difficult. I've learned that time management and doing other activities are also important and will relieve us students of the pressures that we face in medical school.

The American MD Program has been a great experience so far for me. The course has many benefits including a syllabus curated by Georgian and American professors to follow Emory's syllabus as closely as possible. This program also offers other opportunities in association with Emory University such as summer and winter programs at Emory in Atlanta for first year students. Their classes include both large group lectures and small group seminars, but the seminars are very useful in developing communication and leadership skills. The program also includes a subject called BAD or Becoming a Doctor which has been really helpful in developing practical skills such as patient communication and physical examination. The course faculty are very responsible and responsive to every student's query and are constantly finding ways to improve each year. Overall, this course offers affordable, high quality medical education for all their students.
